Examination Blues…

They called it Paper I, but the subjects were two…..bahut na insaafi hai yeh!!!

Anyways, an enlightened soul about 2000 years ago penned down 195 verses of Yoga Sutras, and that too in Sanskrit (he could have used an easier language like Hindi or English!!)

2000 years later, an un-enlightened mortal being (that would be me), had to study those 195 Sutras and remember them too!

The second subject in Paper I was called Psychodynamics of Yoga! It took me a while even to memorise the spelling of ‘Psychodynamics’ :-P But honestly the topic WAS interesting!

Next in the line was Paper II, again two different subjects. One was Gheranda Samhita (treatise on Yoga). I must say, these Yogis must have worked really hard to produce such amazing work on yoga!! And other part was theory on Yogic practices, ie Asanas and Pranayamas, which we did in practical sessions every day anyways and hence no sweat really (and literally…hehe).

But wait, this was not the end…..there were two more exams Paper III and Paper IV. How tough can life get!!

And then followed another week juggling between work pressure and books…..

After completing the school (which was quite some years back), I was smug with the thought “Ah! No more science for me”. But life has a way of having it’s quota of fun, and it did at my expense!!

One part of Paper III was on Structure and Functions of Human Body!!! Aw God, not again!!! But study I did, Digestive System, Circulatory System, Nervous System, etc etc. followed by an interesting aspect of human beings, their subtle bodies like Chakras, Nadis, Kundalini, etc., which was the second part of the paper.

The toughest one was Paper IV which had again two different subjects being Yoga and Mental Health and Yoga and Value Synthesis. Believe me, I had studied the notes related to these topics but what I could reproduce on the day of exam was nowhere close to what I had read. I am sure, the examiner would discover atleast one new theory from what I had written and friends, be prepared to see my name being flashed on News Channels, Newspaper etc. as next genius on Indian turf….. ;-)

Having said that, my fingers are crossed, praying that I atleast pass the exams.…..for the only reason that I can’t go through re-examinations! In fact, I think I won’t touch a study book even with a 5 feet long pole for another 3-4 months.
